Restore My Faith In Humanity

Greg

Our good friend Greg Stein, who was already dealing with a broken leg, fell victim to a violent mugging Friday night on the mean streets of Mountain View. Having parted ways with him only moments earlier, we were dumbstruck to say the least. He's going to be OK, but a little cheering up can't hurt.

Let's offset the bad karma with some good. Kevin Burton is accepting donations. A small portion of the proceeds will go toward sending Greg to a spa for a weekend of relaxation and recovery, and the rest will go to the ASF, an organization to which Greg himself donates a great deal of time.

Chicks dig scars, Greg.

omg that's horrible. I thought people were just being dramatic when they said thugs were hanging around mv.

I think google should invest in autonomous floating attack drones. Something subtle but with something menacing to remind bad people of what they do - maybe some little red neon stuff like people like to put under their cars.

They could do facial/behavioral profiling and issue some dalek-like threats to deter most criminals. Maybe some kind of tricorter like device to actually initiate an attack.

that would be awesome. (maybe you could get it to order drinks when the bar is really busy too)

"Mean streets of Mountain View"
as in Mountain View, California!?

I stayed there not so long ago and it was anything but mean. Where did it happen?

That was sarcasm. :)

We do have a little gang problem, but there's no evidence it's behind Greg's incident: http://www.ci.mtnview.ca.us/city_hall/police/children_n_youth/gang_activity.asp

You can't be to careful of those Yahoo types. They will do anything to take back the crown.
