I'm interested to hear what he has to say.
I on the other hand predicted this two years too early (the Mac Mini came out instead), and I think it's the absolute right path. Downloading is easier than recording, especially if the shows download automatically (no missing the final 5 minutes because a show runs over or your DVR hiccups). I'm happy with the resolution, too.
I actually meant to leave the comment from the "What does the iTunes Paramount deal mean?" mean under this post. Using an apple tv do you pay a fee for each show you download? If so I do not believe this is the absolute right path for comsumers in the U.S. With a HTPC/PVR/DVR based solution one has lower variable costs (that is excluding services like tivo).
ReplyDeleteI guess it depends on how many shows you watch per month and how much you hate commercials (I really do)--with Tivo, you still need to fast forward. Also, I plan on using the Apple TV for movies. Not having to deal with DVDs (especially with my kid) will be nice. Sure, I could set up my own media server with an xbox or something, but the Apple hardware looks so nice and is so easy to use.
